I'm not a kid. I know, I know - I'm still a youngin' since I just celebrated the 2nd anniversary of my 29th birthday this past year, but technically I'm an adult. But at heart...
I'm still a kid. And I hope I never lose that feeling.
So when the talks about going to Disney World started at the dinner table on Sunday night at my mom's (they are going in October to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, and my sister finally convinced her VERY stubborn husband that he needs to go so they are also going in October, although at a different time) I think Tom and I were secretly saying to ourselves "when can we work this in". It's not like we have a ton of time - we're heading into race season which keeps us busy just about every week with something through the middle of October and then Tom has decided to be a runner for the Run Across America (not just a crew member) and he'll be gone for 20+ days the end of October into November. Sure we could fit a trip in after that, but I think he's going to want to be home... in his own bed... for a while.
And then I saw this message from my separated twin Kristin "

aw col, you are going to have a blast! hmmmm i think you would make a wonderful tinkerbell!!!
That race is on my secret bucket list. I mean, you get 3 medals for 2 races!! Cant beat that.
I vote tinkerbell
I'm very excited you are going and will be so curious to hear your experience doing a 1/2 one day and a full the next. Those medals are super neat!! I definitely think you'd be a perfect Tinkerbell!!! x o x o
I didnt see the medals before. Uhhh yeah, we WILL make this work ;)
I vote Steamboat Willie hahaha.
That is gunna be epic! I've contemplated that for a while, but never had the cojones to sign up.
Oh yay!! All that bling is worth it plus, a trip to Florida in October ...priceless!
That is a great decision to make as an adult! Good for you and the hubby!
Sweet!!!! You guys are going to have a blast!
What a blast! Everyone I know that's done it had fun.
So exciting!!!!!
You'd be a perfect Tinkerbell, and Tom....well, how about goofy, just because he is goofy when we're together...and I love it! Love you both and so glad that you're heading to Disney, a magical place and you'll have magical races. Mom xoxox
Have so much fun!! I might still be there - not as a racer though. If my buddy goes I think I will go along as a cheerleader. I just don't think I will train for it given the timing, it was tough for me to fit it all in last time at that time of year and things are not all that different now. SO. I might be there.
Guess what Colleen? You will always be a kid. And that is awesome. It doesn't matter if you are 29, or 31, or 47, you have an "inner age". Sorry to break it to you, but you are destined for a life of spontaneity, fun, and fitness. Trust me.
oh I would love that race too! It would bring out the kid in me, okay maybe I still act like a kid too.
;)
You will not be disappointed! Goofy was amazing. Expect a slower than normal time (or at least I did) I stopped and took character pics and soaked it up.
Good for you for signing up, you are such an inspiration! I would love to do something like this someday!
And I am 26, and still a HUGE kid at heart. I hope I never grow up!
Nice pick Leslie Davis
My vote is the Little Mermaid only to see if it is possible to run with with a fin instead of legs. :)
I'm going to have to do this one eventually. Maybe 2013. My dad did the inaugural Disney Marathon back in 94, so I'd love to make it back to actually run it myself.
How fun! Good luck! I hope to do that someday too!
I heard this race was awesome! You will haev a blast Im sure!
Seriously nothing wrong with being a kid forever!
My sister did that when we went down to do the Disney Marathon. It's really nuts, but a lot of fun I understand :-)
btw... don't spend two days in the park before hand like we did! HA!
My husband and I did Disney 2 years ago. I did the marathon and he did the goofy. Fun...but sadly I am just not a fan of Disney. Still, having said that, I might would do it for the goofy finish next time around.
Wow, that's awesome. Good luck to you guys!
Awesome! That will definitely be a fun adventure!
I SO want to have those three medals on my wall!!
You'll be so happy you signed up when you get there.
How fun!! Nothing wrong with being young at heart :)
That looks like a lot of fun! Exciting!
Soooo fun!!! I love Disney World! Very cool medals.
woooooo! I LOVE DISNEY! I registered for Goofy the day it opened, LOL! See you there!!!!!
I love your math, 2nd anniversary of your 29th Birthday...I'm going to have to use that...
This is so on my bucket list, too. Yay for you guys! :)
What a cool race(s)! That's really "goofy." I liked the medals too, and I know that you feel the same way I do that having a spouse to train with is such a blessing. Way to go, you guys!
