August randoms

I swear I'm going to go to bed tonight and wake up tomorrow and it'll be December.  Seriously, how can I make time slow down???  Ack...

And because of this, you get some bullet points (you know you love my random bullets!)
  • Training is kind of catching up with me.  A little.  We had a 40 mile run week this past week (along with two swims and three bikes) and by today's run, it wasn't totally pretty.  I may or may not have thrown a little fit and told the hubby that I wanted to finish my last 2.5 miles alone because I was frustrated.  Um, yeah.  Sorry about that Brady... you know I love you.  But in my defense, I had a bad night's sleep and it was 12:30 pm and hot.  I don't handle that well.
  • So when I started overheating, Tom tells me to take my shirt off (get your mind out of the gutters... I had a sports bra on of course).  I'm still not there... I still struggle with body image issues.  I know I shouldn't care... I mean hell, I'm running through neighborhoods where IF we see anyone, they are out smoking on the porch and probably haven't run 9 miles in their entire life, but I just can't bring myself to do it.  I hate being self conscious.  It's a downfall of mine.
  • With that being said, I bought jeans yesterday in a size smaller than I wore last year!  One of two things will happen... I'll be rocking my smaller jeans all year or I'll be stuffed like a sausage in them when my training decreases.  Talk about motivation to not gain weight in the off season.
  • Said jeans were only $15 too... of course I bought two pairs because they were a size smaller so cheap.
  • I have some kick butt athlete friends.  A bunch of people raced at USAT AG Nationals this weekend.  I know that Jamie and Shannon both PRed their races - you guys rock!  My dear friend Tracy won her age group, her hubby Jim came in third in his and their son Zach came in seventh in his.  All of them are heading to New Zealand next year (and both Tracy and Jim are racing in Beijing this September for Team USA and they both raced in Budapest last year for Team USA and Tracy won her age group... yeah, she's a world champion). Congrats Team Austome!  And then there's Jen... Miss Jen rocked her first 70.3 and then posted pictures on Facebook of her chumming it up with the one and only Chrissie Wellington, who happened to love Jen's "I pee on my bike shirt".  Love it!
  • I can't imagine not being able to be up and about. I'm visiting my friend Sarah tomorrow in the hospital.  Sarah's pregnant with twins (her first kids), who aren't due until the middle of November.  She was put on bedrest IN THE HOSPITAL until she delivers - they are hoping she can make it until mid-October.  Oh boy.  I'm bringing her lunch, as well as all of the magazines that I can find in my house that I've already read.  Can you imagine being in a hospital for multiple months at a time?  Poor thing... please keep her in your thoughts.
  • Will you leave me a comment and let me know if you are a.) going to be at Cedar Point or b.) racing in the next few weeks.  I need to make a list for my own reference.
  • Oh... and Cedar Point - for those of you going, are you planning on doing the park on Friday?  All the cool kids are (aka, Tom and I). Hahaha... we'd love to meet up with you and scream like 10 year old girls on the roller coasters.
That's all I've got...

We will be there Friday! And I will never feel comfy with my shirt off. You already knew that. When my belly feels like it jiggles under my shirt I knowit will without it :-(

I'm totally self conscious with my little muffin top. No one can see it except me, but it still holds me back from being comfortable in a bikini :)

We should have a day that we all unite and run in sports bras and feel good about it!

I think we're all self conscious... god bless the men who deal (I mean love) us! :)

Good luck at Cedar Point! You'll have a great race!!

I'll be at CP in spirit! Ride all the scary rides for me, that I love. I'm an adrenaline junky. I think you already know the one and only race I have ahead of me, since you'll be there. I know what you mean about having a meltdown (literally) in the heat. I hate running in the midday. Hate it! It makes me cranky. You got thru a hell of a week though and for that you will kick ass come race day.

Thinking good thoughts for your friend and her littles!!

We will be at Cedar Point and will probably be at the park on Friday! Can't wait to meet everyone!

CP is going to be a blast. HAPPY you guys wanna do the coasters -- annie is afraid of them!

Hooray for new jeans! And thoughts for your friend. Hoping everything goes well for her!

I can't wait to make it into that crew of friends you have...WOW! That is just awesome and also provides a lot of great inspiration and motivation I'm sure.

Racing....hmmmm! 9/5 Austin Tri (Oly), 10/2 US Open (Oly), 10/23 70.3 Longhorn.....

keep leading by example b/c 9 miles easy or hard doesn't matter, what matters is that you did it.

When I read your first bullet, I thought it said, "We had a 40 mile run this week" instead of "We had a 40 mile run week." I was definitely going to call you out on being an over-achiever, lol. Can't wait 'til Sept. 11th! Training is starting to wear on us as well!

Bed rest until October! I can't imagine! We will add that at reason number 52 that I don't want kids, haha. My friend just tore his Achilles and will be in a cast for 6 months. I got depressed just thinking about everything he can't do. Makes me thankful for my health!!!

See you in 3 weeks!!!! I doubt we will be going to CP on Friday...maybe to meet up and walk around with you guys, but motion sickness is my arch enemy and if you want to see narcolepsy at its finest all you have to do is give me a Dramamine ;)

Good luck at Cedar Point! I'm doing the OBX half iron in a few weeks (come on down?)...

I did a 13 mile run at the beach this weekend and totally got overheated. It was nasty. then I ran out of water and cramped up. ouchies.

Great job on the smaller size!
My favorite jeans just happen to be from a store where I think the jeans fit better, and are a size smaller. Guys care too.

running with my shirt off is TOTALLY liberating! I remember when I refused to do it when I was running XC in college, and then one day, I just said f-it and took my shirt off.. haven't looked back!

The past couple build weeks have totally kicked my ass too. I may do some roller coasters on Friday evening as well, but scream like a 10-year old girl?? Who me?

Looking forward to seeing you out there!

Im self concious too!! I unzippered by bike jersry the other day for about 5 min and then was like OMG what am I doing?! Zipped that bad boy right back up!! I love that Im a few sizes smaller! lets see if I can keep it that way AFTER Ironman!! God luck at Cedar point!

First off, high five on smaller jeans, I still wear my fat pants, afraid to commit to a smaller size, that will be mega depression for me this winter when I break my sausage casings (AKA jeans).

Second, I used to be really chunky. Horrible body image is my middle name. Only one thing worse than horrible body image, being overheated and having a horrible body image. Heather and I always run shirtless in the heat. H is always skinny, me, I vary depending on the month haha. I don't care, I let my man boobs and stomach hang out, let people make fun of me... I use it as motivation to get back in shape haha.

LASTLY, ironically... Heather and I are going to be up at Cedar Point on Sept. 11th too. Even more funny... we will be racing!!!!! SO PUT US ON YOUR LIST! Check out my blog post today so you know what to look for with your beer goggles on ;)

I'll be at Cedar Point but sadly will be driving up on the Saturday and not doing the park. My travel buddies don't want to take the extra day off of work. Booo. Have fun though - I haven't been there since high school (which was a LONG time ago).

WOOP WOOP on the smaller jeans - way to go!! Thats so awesome :)

I'm excited to hear all about your Cedar Point weekend - sounds like it's going to be FUN!

Hubby and I are doing Cedar Point, but we won't be driving up until Thursday night/Friday morning. We're thinking of doing the park on Monday. We'll probably have to rent Segways to get from one ride to the next though.

I am probably the opposite of you when it comes to self conscious. Have you seen that beach body thing on MTV/VH1 where they count down the best and worst beach bodies and they talk about how some people just have high self esteem? I am really worried about that for this weekends underpants run.

I wish I could go watch Cedar Point. I wish it wasn't so far from KY! I know so many people who will be there. Instead, I am doing a mini tri in Oldham County. It is the day before an Oly in Louisville, so it will be pretty low key.

Number 1: I almost NEVER run without my shirt on. I can't get over being self-conscious about my muffin top AND when I run I am sure it's extra jiggly.

Number 2: Try the Stinger Chews. They're amazing.

Number 3: I'm racing Delaware Diamondman on September 11th. It's half iron distance race :)

I can totally relate to being self-conscious! I'm the same way and probably wouldn't have taken my shirt off either..ugh!
Woohoo for buying a smaller size jeans!! Isn't that a great feeling??

Molly said...

You followed my shopping motto without even realizing it, when it looks good & feels good, buy two of 'em! I'm sure you'll fit into them for a while too : )

A friend of mine was put on bed rest with her twins for 6 weeks, I brought her food, can't imagine hospital food for that long! Hope everything goes well for her....

I agree that the year- especially the summer!- seems to be flying by!

I'm with you on the not running in a sports bra situation. I have no problem being in a bikini at the beach, but running in a bra just feels wrong somehow... Which especially kills me on the days when Kevin is running shirtless!

Yay for smaller and on-sale jeans!

Big Daddy Diesel said...

- HA!! We think the same, "A" told me I need new clothes and took me shopping, and I found a pair in a smaller size for $15 and bought them and she had a $10 off coupon making them $5.

- If I go, it will be Sunday only for me. Dont have the money to get a hotel for the night

Who cares what everyone else thinks! I've never met you, but from your pictures, you deserve to be cool while your running. Plus, with those smaller jeans, you totally deserve to feel confident! You look great! Keep up the good work with the training!

it's a dream of mine to run in a sports bra and feel like emz. oh and look like that too.
while my tummy is flat, i get it :)

thank you so much for the shout out. it was an amazing day and i cant wait to do another one!!

i wish i could go to CP and cheer y'all on!!

If you find out how to make time slow down... please share!!! :)

I'm doing Rev3 CP but won't be driving up til Saturday morning... me and my loser stomach don't handle amusement park rides so well :( If there are any blogger lunch/dinner/meetup things planned please let me know! :)

Racing Cedar Point but unfortunately I wont be one of the cool kids at the park on Friday. I will likely drive the hour and fifteen minute drive first thing Saturday to save hotel dollars and then will be at the swim and expo a good part of the day!!! Inside 3 weeks!!!

a 40 mile run?? omg I would never ever even want to do that!!

Richelle said...

I'm still not comfortable enough with my body to wear nothing but a sports bra when I'm running in hot weather. I think one of these days, I just have to do it, no matter what I think or anyone else thinks.
