I swear I was swimming in jello.
Or maybe uphill... I wouldn't put it past these southerners to build pools with hills.
Um, this lady has a long way to go to getting back into any sort of swim shape. I've never been fast, but wow, this was pathetically slow. And tiring. And I wanted to quit. Which so isn't like me. I enjoy swimming, albeit at my manatee pace.
At least the pools here are a normal length - M/W/F 25 yards, T/TH 25 meters. My old pool was 19 meters - swim swim turn, swim swim turn. It got old really quick.
I lost a lot of fitness when we moved... and I'm paying for it now. Good thing I don't have too many races this year. :)

Are you going to the aquatic center in Collins Hill? That sounded pretty sweet when I read about it. I loved you, "Manatee pace." That's hilarious! I'm right there with ya, in fact, I might draft off you sometime! :)
I havent swam since sept. I am in deep manatee shit.
You will get that groove back in no time, in the meantime you are cracking me up with swimming hills :)
Swimming hills? Hhhhmmmmm. Id try that!
Maybe it just seemed slower because the pool was so much longer! ;) Hang in there, girl! It will come!
Hills = current? LOL Actually I thought this might be some kinky new workout when I saw the blog title. :) Good to get back into the pool regardless.
Yup, takes a good 1-2 weeks to figure out that whole swimming thing again.
Glad to see you back w/ the training mojo!
I prefer my swims flat, like my runs and bike
Personally, swimming seems to come back the quickest of the 3
You will be back into the swing of things in no time! Just keep chippin' away, one workout at a time. That's all any of us can do ;) Glad you and Tom are finally getting 'settled' in GA!
It does feel like we build uphill pools sometimes. the hills are everywhere. but running (and biking and swimming) in the hills will make you incredibly fit and fast on the flats, like the IMFL course. You're going to be amazed how fast IMFL will feel compared to those georgia hills.
Your swimming will come back in no time! Plus, you will love the hills in running and biking once you start racing and feel great. At least,I try and tell myself that when I am running and biking on hills here in Colorado!
I've always found the initial jump back into training after time away to be the hardest... your fitness will come back soon! Keep at it!
And all those hills will make you stronger! :)
I agree w Kelly that the pool sees just seemed bad bc the pool was longer. The difference between LCY and LCM might as well be a whole other length for me. And hills make you stronger! You'll get used to the humidity too. It's more fun down here!
