Christmas Cards

I've seen a lot of people posting ideas for their Christmas cards. I've started to think about mine (very early for the Kingery's, although until I order them, that doesn't mean anything). Every year Tom and I have sent out photo cards. And every year, I have the same thoughts - do people think that it's kind of weird when people send pictures of themselves as Christmas cards? I mean, I love getting photo cards - especially from people who I haven't seen in a long time. But what do other people think of them? Are they cheesy? We don't have little kids that we want to show off (unless you count our 4 legged fur babies which I'm sure definitely moves our cards into the cheesy category). So our picture if usually just the two of us, after a big race or something - the last two years they were from the beaches of PCB after IMFL. This year will have to be different - Tom and I standing along the shores of the Ohio River just don't have the same appeal to my Christmas card creativity! Is it over the top to do a collage of pictures - kind of showing people what's happened this year? Hum... And do you write on photo cards or just let the photos and personal saying do the work?

In any event, I'm definitely getting our cards from Shutterfly. They are doing a super cool deal for bloggers (Bloggers get 50 free holiday cards from Shutterfly… sign up: http://bit.ly/sfly2010). But besides that great deal, I love shutterfly. I've ordered photo books from them which have turned out amazing. I always order my mom a calendar each year, personalized with family pictures. And this year, they have some great Christmas card designs.

I guess I just need to decide how many picture of Tom, my two dogs and myself is too much. :)

What do you do for Christmas cards and what do you think when you get a collage card from someone around the holidays?

I love collage cards....sometimes a card is the most I've seen from the family in a while, so the more photos, the better!

Photo cards can be really cute. I have one friend who takes one of him and his dog every year, with funny captions, and other friends who have a fake Christmas tree named "Doug" who is the centerpiece of their cards. I think it just comes down to your creativity. Who wouldn't want to see the two of you (and your fur babies)? :)

Phot cards are great!!! I get one every year from a couple of my closest friends and family. They are great when you haven't seen someone in a while!

I don't know.... I couple of wet dogs just coming out of the Ohio River might have an interesting flavor (smell?)...

I do photo collage cards and let the cheesy saying do the work for me. And even though I have human children, my dog and cat always have their own photos on the card, too!

Every year I say I am going to do a photo card and every year it does not happen. Maybe this year will be the year!

Do you remember my christmas card fiasco last year? I sent out a photo card of me, myself, and I! It was a collage of consisting of all the things I have done. I would like to do the same this year, but with the BF involved, if he's okay with that! LOL

I think photo cards are great! One of my friends & her husband send out a photo card of themselves every year (no kids) and I don't think it's cheesy at all.

We love receiving photo cards. We have done it every year of our marriage even before we had kids. We also include a letter or poem of what happened the past year. SO while some may think it is cheesy, I love all of it!

PS. You should include your doggies. :)

I love getting photo cards. That is what we send out, but I am too lazy to write on them!

We used to love Shutterfly and the thought of 50 free cards is cool. But, we've been using Send Out Cards for a year now and are actually MAKING money by sending cards through them and helping others send cards through them (and making money themselves).

Send Out Cards is fully customizable and allows you to use as many pictures as you want, send out personalized cards in your own handwriting right and with your own signature from your computer and you can send gifts this way, too!

I'm happy to give you and your readers a couple of free Send Out Cards to send out as an early holiday gift to you all.

Just go to www.sendoutcards.com/gradea to send out a card or two on me.

Happy Holidays!!!

I didn't know about the Shutterfly 50 free -that's what we do, but we take a picture of Mike and I and the dog and cat - usually with one of the animals since they hate each other and the other gets photoshopped or added in...lol
