Running skirt wearers

I need help (shut up... not that kind of help... well at least not today anyway).

I really want a running skirt. I've bought probably 5 different ones and they are great on the elliptical, but when I run, the little shorts underneath ride up and I end up having some, um, well rubbing of the thigh (again, shut up). Body glide isn't cutting it.

I'm the kind of girl that usually runs with a little longer compression short or tri short (5" inseam) because well, let's face it, I was a soccer player for years and have some legs on me.

(That's the nice way of saying that I have big thighs people... stick with me)

What are your suggestions for a running skirt with a short underneath that doesn't ride up? I have looked at the Runningskirts.com website and think that the athletic skirt line would be the way to go (because I'm definitely not getting the running skirt with that little brief that looks like a bikini bottom - hello chafe...). But I don't know if I can handle the $59-$69 price tag to "try" a skirt and see if it works. Or do I get the little basic skirt and just put it over the shorts I already love to run in?

Any advice for a girl who just wants to look like a girl when she runs???

Ahhh, yup. Same issue here!
Check out Skirt Sports (http://www.skirtsports.com) and they have longer short lengths. I am waiting for Santa to bring me mine :)

I LOVE my skirts from runningskirts.com. I wear both the athletic and running style. I've never had ANY chaffing issues with them (but I do use bodyglide). Keep an eye on their site, they have a clearance/sale section where you can sometimes pick up the skirts really cheap. Or...I have a coupon code on my page.

Good luck!

Thank God there's another triathlete out there who's thighs rub together! I thought I was the only one!

I just bought a lululemon running skirt but haven't tried it out yet for running (it was just cute and I planned on wearing it in Mexico). My friend swears by her New Balance running skirt. She has bigger thighs and has said that the shorts stay put while she's running and she doesn't get "the chafe". Good luck!

Okay - I have had about 10 skirts - over the past few years...I too have the thigh rub and do like the body glide - but sometimes for a long run you need more...

My number 1 - non chafing - is the Skirt Sports - Gym Girl Ultra - I have two and I like all the pockets - it's great.
My number 2 as of recently is the lululemon one. They also don't ride up.

I thought the runningskirts was ok (the athletic one) but thought the skirt sports stayed put more so.

I have tried Nike, NB, and adidas, all rode up and waste of money

I have a Nike running skirt and unfortunately, I have chafing as well. So I would not go for that brand.

I'm so glad you asked this! I'm in the market and have been trying to decide on one. I have a girlfriend who swears by her lululemon one. First running skirt she ever tried and she was sold on it.

I think I have the same leg "type" as you. :) I've tried a couple skirts (Target & New Balance were not good for me) before getting the RS athletic one. It works for me!

Wow, I never knew they were that expensive!!

The rumor is that the 07/31/2011 HFP race is going to be a Half up in Cleveland and they are also bringing back the OSU tri that disappeared for 2 years

I have similar legs and I love the runningskirts.com regular running skirt version (not the ones with shorts). I thought it'd be a chafing issue too but I don't even have to use body glide. They are super comfy! You can check their sales page and usually find something on sale.

I hate all the other running skirts I've tried with shorts underneath b/c of chafing and riding. I'd try the runningskirts.com reg ones---you won't be sorry!

I played soccer too (glad to know that that is why my thighs are uh, thick) I wear Under Armour compression tights under my skirts. I've tried many skirts and none of the little shorts stay put bc they just aren't quite long enough... works just fine.

I only wear runningskirts.com skirts. They are really good and I don't chafe (but I do use bodyglide). Definitely try them out.

I have one of the runningskirts.com one too, the brief, and I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I do! It's like you're wearing nothing. I do use glide though....

I have the same issue. I need a longer short inside as well. I have heard great things about skirt sports but like you am hesitant to give it a go (um spend the $ on something I might not like).

Here is an idea, contact Skirt Sports and offer to test one of their running skirts and do a review on your blog. :) Doesn't hurt to ask!

I tried contacting Running Skirts to do a review and they never emailed me back!! Its worth a try though! I say go and get that skirt! I bought one off of ebay that was a adidas one and I LOVE it. and it was only $20!! NEW! you can find great deals!!

I have a skirtspirts gym girl skirt and a runningskirts skirt and I like both of them. My sister got a skirtsports skirt for her 1/2marathon and didn't have any issue with it either! Definitely keep an eye on sales!

I've never worn a skirt (running at least) and likely never will, and I have some legs on me too. But there is this defiant side of me that says "I don't care what my legs look like, I'm out here rocking it!" I'm sure my fellow runner may disagree :) Good luck finding the right one!
